Use of the Gnowangerup Training Centre

Gnowangerup Training Centre [GTC] is a Department of Education and Training facility dedicated to the development of education and training programs through schools and other providers. The centre is available for use after application through the site manager and agreement to certain terms and conditions pertaining to insurance, use of equipment, supervision and general care. As a regional facility, it is essential that its longevity is assured through considerate use of all its resources.
All use of GTC is determined by bookings made through the Centre’s Site Manager, Greg Hunt, who must be contacted [9827 2333 / 0427 087 829] to ascertain availability, user details, user needs and accommodation requirements. Bookings are subject to confirmation by the Manager.
DAMAGES TO SITE FACILITIES
Generally, site facilities are available for use by visitors under supervision terms established with the Site Manager. It is a condition of use, however, that breakages and/or damages to equipment [including machinery] and facilities are the responsibility of the user. In such cases, replacement or repair of affected equipment or facilities is required.
SCHOOL GROUPS
It is expected that all visiting school groups will have satisfied DET excursion / camp requirements prior to visiting GTC, including risk management assessments, appropriate duty of care arrangements, evacuation procedures, and so on. Whilst at the GTC site, it is expected that students will be supervised at all times.
As with other DET sites, RiskCover supplies insurance coverage for DET employees if an injury occurs while on a GTC visit. As long as appropriate approval for GTC visits is obtained, personal accident cover applies to voluntary workers, work experience participants and students attending where an overnight stay is involved.
NON-SCHOOL GROUPS
GTC carries public liability coverage. All non-DET users are encouraged to arrange their own personal accident coverage prior to using the Centre. It is expected that each user of GTC will have an appointed person-in-charge or liaison.
LEVELS of EXPERTISE
GTC is not a Registered Training Organisation [RTO]. It has staff capable of training package assessment but is not responsible for training coverage unless previously arranged through the Site Manager. Visiting groups using their own instructors are assumed to have acceptable, industry-standard experience and expertise when conducting their training programs. This includes verbal and written instruction, but especially in the operation and use of GTC equipment. Misuse that results in damages or breakdown requiring repair will result in the user being required to recompense the Centre.
